digee dime

it's been... wow. almost two months since i posted last. okay maybe one. i like to exaggerate. buuuut anyways... a lot has been happening lately. lots of bad things... not necessarily that anything could have been done, but you know how it is...
car accidents, suicides, sickness, death... a friend and i were discussing the other night that God must be trying to get us to see something and we aren't getting it. it all started about three weeks ago with a good friend of ours getting in a car accident and being laid up in the hospital. it's really hard to see someone so sweet and with such strength stuck in a hospital or really a bed, and not being able to go anywhere. after that things kept piling up. i was even in an accident myself the other day... no one was hurt, and residual whiplash isn't that big of a deal. a very dear friend of mine also died on Saturday night. he was old and tired and in pain and it was his time to go, but it's still really hard for me to accept. he worked the same place i did, at my church, so now when i go home, everywhere i go i will be reminded of him.
despite all the madness and mayhem ensuing on campus, i still am happy. i have time to breathe, i find ways to laugh (oh no wait... i laugh at everything.), i even squeaked in chapel in front of the entire school. and as if it wasn't blatant enough that every person on campus heard it, the speaker actually made a comment... "someone's squealing out there! are you in surgery?" i still can't believe it... but it's all fun. i've been getting comments about it the last two days. it's definitely enough to keep me a healthy shade of pink!
i spent about an hour with Kassie today, helping her decorate some shoes with the lyrics to a song that was special to her and Kirsten, the girl who was in the accident. i think i also scared one of her friends... but it's what i do best!
to quote one of my favorite songs,

"so kiss the light, seize the day,
shine your shoes, come to play,
sun is shining, sky is clear,
leave your worries with your fears;
light eternal, sleep inside
to my heart and through my eyes,
bringing in sweetness to my soul;
close your eyes, be made whole."
