Baby!!!

I just realized I hadn't posted since 5 days before my son was born. Shame on me, huh?

Alexander Ethan Snyder was born at 5 am on December 13th, ten days after he was due. He weighed 7 lbs, 15 oz, was 20 1/2 in long, with a 13 inch head, and was absolutely perfect. He also had the longest feet I have ever seen on a newborn! His Grandma Debbie came to help out for a week, and she was indispensable. When he was 9 days old, Alex got to meet his great-grandparents and most of Papa Dave's family. The very next day, he and Mommy and Daddy flew to Illinois to visit Daddy's family for Christmas. That was cold!!! And of course, Grandpa was showing him off to everyone...

At his one month checkup, Alex was back up to 7 lbs. 14 oz, and he was already 22 1/2 inches long! I swear he sneaks miracle-gro when I'm not looking... He also got to meet his great-grandparents on Grandma Debbie's side. By this point, he was already mostly sleeping 8 hours at night, which I LOVED, and eating really well.

By two months, he weighed 11 lbs. 8 oz., was 24 1/2 inches long, and was very wiggly. He was already trying to pull himself into a sitting position and was generally a good-natured baby. He didn't like his shots too much, but I cried more than he did, and consequently got made fun of for it. :( Shortly after that checkup, he started smiling and cooing excessively, which I didn't mind at all.

By three months, Alex was a regular chatterbox (only baby noises, of course, but still very, very cute) and discovering how to stand up on Mommy's lap. One of his favorite pastimes was to blow bubbles, which ended in any surrounding person or object being deluged in slobber. It was also around this time that Mommy and Daddy moved from Colorado Springs to Pueblo. It took a little adjusting, but overall he did very well.

Alex is 4 months old now, as of Monday. He can sit with some support, grab most objects that are placed in his hands or are in a fixed position in front of him, roll over, smile, giggle, squeal, stick out his tongue, and grab his toes. Yesterday at the doctor's office, he measured 14 lbs, 6 oz, 26 3/4 in, 16 inch head, and got two shots. He was a tad grouchy after that... He loves sitting in his swing in the kitchen while I'm cooking or doing dishes, and playing on the playmat that Auntie Terra lent us. He also loves to be held and cuddled; I'm afraid he's a bit spoiled in that regard. He's also very fond of sticking anything he can into his mouth... my fingers get gummed at least once a day. He is so wonderful, and he makes me laugh every day. I am so blessed to have him.

Being weighed. His head looks so squishy...

Being held by Daddy in the hospital. He's so tiny!

8 days old, napping with mommy. He liked sleeping face-down on my chest for some reason...

One month old... he had a tendency to let his head fall back and to the left when we sat him upright. Silly baby!

My favorite picture of him last month. Such a happy boy!
